The Call of the Wild

Wilson McCourtney
Wilson McCourtney is a wildlife filmmaker, a conservationist, a naturalist, and a bird enthusiast that loves to spend time outdoors searching for those rare species and that perfect shot.
Wilson grew up on the water in Sarasota, Florida exploring the natural world all around him. He was raised by photographers that had a deep appreciation for nature in an extremely artistic household and was practically born with a camera in his hand. As an adult he became a documentary filmmaker, a scuba diver, an environmental activist, and a fierce advocate for wildlife. His favorite hobbies include shark diving, filming birds of prey, watching and producing nature documentaries, and playing tennis. When he’s not underwater, he’s in the forest filming birds and looking for foxes. Wilson always dreamed of living in the woods tucked away from the craziness of the world so he moved to Maine to set up his own backyard bird sanctuary and to explore the expansive wilderness of New England.
As a photography and cinematography expert with over 25 years of industry experience, he brings over a decade of wilderness field knowledge and insight to his exclusive tours with an upbeat and down to earth attitude. For Wilson, every day is a good day when you’re in the wild with a camera. He loves sharing his enthusiasm for finding illusive woodland creatures with his guests and he loves teaching others about how to protect the wonder and beauty that lives all around us.
